Southern Fun NZ 2019

The Southern Fun Paragliding 2019 Competition

Once again Tim Brown, Louis Tapper and friends are presenting a Fun paragliding competition for new, novice and experienced xc pilots. The competition will be based out of Wanaka, Otago.

Dates:          27th -30th December 2019.
Location:    Wanaka / Queenstown and vicinity.

This competiton will be an FAI Cat2 ( although application is currently pending).
Over the last two years this has been a most successful competition flying from new, and not usually flown sites, in the Wanaka / Queenstown / Alexandria region. This year we may investigate flying near Omarama and Garston, to the south of Queenstown.

Registration is on a 'first-come-first served' basis and limited to 60 pilots.

For information  and registration:    Southern Fun 2019

Waikato regional paragliding competition this weekend

The weather is looking great and we think there might be one or two pilots left in the North island so why not run a quick comp to end the year. Paeroas will probably be the site of choice but we'll make a final call on go or no go and which site to aim for on Thursday night. Waypoint files will be available for download from the competition download area soon or from Airtribune when we get it set up. Scoring will use airscore .

National Paragliding Ladder Updated

The National Ladder has been updated, and a few pilots have moved up as a result of flying in the recent Auckland Regional Paragliding Competition.

FAI Sanction Fees For Regional Comps

It is the policy of the Paragliding Competition Committee to encourage Regional Competition organisers to obtain a FAI Cat-2 sanction.

In previous seasons the PCC has picked up the tab for this, when it was 20 Euro.

However, the FAI / CIVL have now increased the minimum sanction fee to 50 Euro.

The PCC will, until future notice, offer to fund 50% (25 Euro) of this cost if the organisers obtain FAI Cat-2 sanction.

NZ PG Open 2017 - Rotorua

Hi all,
Just a quick note that registrations for the PG Open 2017, to be held in Rotorua from 26 Feb – 4 March, are now open!
Entry fees are $160 if paid before 31 Dec or $200 afterwards.
This will be the only round of the PG Open for 2017 and, in case you need an extra incentive to enter, one lucky pilot will be drawn out of a hat and win their entry fee back thanks to Nick Taber at Mac Para NZ.
Accommodation will be in hot demand at that time of year, so pilots are encouraged to get in quick and make reservations with the Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park. If you mention that you’re with the PG Open you’ll also receive a 10% discount off the standard room rate.
To register and for more information go to: www.airtribune.com/newzealand
Hope to see you there!
Graham.

PCC seeks bids for next season's PG Open

There will be only one round of the PG Open in the 2016/17 season.

The PCC requires bids to hold the event sent to them in writing before the end of May 2016. Please use nzhgpapcc@googlegroups.com to send your bid.

PG Open organisers are heroes.

Cheers,
Johnny and the PCC

Pasted below is rule 1.6.1 regarding the selection of PG Open rounds.

1.6.1 PG Open
Potential Organisers of PG Open Rounds should send their submission to the PCC by the 30th of May each year, or as otherwise notified by the PCC prior to that date. The PCC has the right to move this deadline if notification is made on the NZHGPA website.
The locations and dates of the following season’s events will then be decided by the PCC and published in the next available Airborn Magazine, announced on the NZHGPA website and added to the Competition Calendar on the NZHGPA website.
When selecting PG Open Rounds, preference should be given to having one in each of the North and South islands. It is also possible to have one in Australia.
Preference shall be given to competitions that meet the requirements of FAI Cat 2 and are sanctioned by the FAI.
Preference will also be given to varying the location of the PG Open rounds between seasons.
If, in a year when two PG Open rounds are allowed, and less than two bids have been received by the stated deadline then there may be only one round. The following year then reverts to a two round competition.
If there is still a vacancy for the PG Open Round after the deadline then it may be awarded on a "first come, first served" basis, provided that the competition meets the requirements of the PCC and each club can be notified

PG Competition Rules released for review

The PCC has released version 17 of the Paragliding Competition Rules for review.

If there have been no significant objections then these will become the official rules on the 22nd of September 2015.

There are numerous changes. The changes are all clearly marked in red, and the significant ones have been numbered.

You can download the review version of this rule book from here:
http://www.nzhgpa.org.nz/competitions/pg-competitions/downloads

New Paragliding Competition Rules

The PCC has updated the official NZ Paragliding Competition rules to version 16.

This is now in review and feedback should be given before 19th August 2016.

The only change to the rules regards the fact that we will now allow CCC gliders in our competitions - but only those specifically listed by the FAI.

You can find a copy of the new proposed rules here, for download.

This is to enable those who have already made bids to get earlier closure on the matter, and to be able to concentrate on organising fantastic PG Open rounds for all us paraglider pilots.

Canungra Cup to be NZHGPA overseas league

The PCC hereby announces that the 2015 Canungra Cup (held in Queensland, Australia) will serve as an overseas league event for New Zealand.

This means, assuming that the minimum criteria of 6 NZ pilots is met, that flying in this competition will contribute towards your NZ ladder score.

Mark Hardman from Paraventures has been kind enough to lead the Kiwi charge, and can be contacted on info@paraventures.co.nz

Dates for the comp are not yet official but it is likely to be the last week of October 2015.

The competition website is here

PG Comp Rules v15 Released For Comment

Proposed to version of the Paragliding Competition Rules (version 15) released for comment and approval

Please find, in the Paragliding Competition downloads area, a proposed new version of the NZ Paragliding Competition Rules, for your perusal and approval.

This is a "tracked changes" version - so all changes can be seen in coloured text

A brief summary of the changes is:

* Various spelling fixes
* General change of "NZ Open" to "PG Open"
* Explicit clarification on the order in which tasks should be scored for the ladder
* A change so that if there are not 4 or more RC or overseas events in a season then a pilot will not score a DNF for events that did not occur.
* A couple of unclear or duplicate statements reworded

Cheers, if I don't hear anything to the contrary then these rules will go into effect on the 29th of November 2014.

Comments very welcome via the PCC email address: nzhgpapcc@googlegroups.com

Thanks,
Johnny (and the PCC)
